Psychology you can actually use, built to a standard you can audit

A working platform for observing behaviour accurately, understanding emotion honestly, and supporting people without labelling them. Original PMA Science material, bounded on purpose: educational and professional resources, never diagnostic instruments.

Learn · Observe · Understand · Apply

Almost everything that goes wrong in applied psychology goes wrong in the order of operations. A conclusion gets written before the evidence. A plan gets built from one setting. A person gets described where a situation should have been. This platform is organised around a sequence that makes those errors harder to commit.

  1. LearnGet the concepts straight first — including what psychology cannot tell you. A method applied to a badly framed question produces confident nonsense.
  2. ObserveRecord what is actually there. Define the behaviour before you watch it, record the environment before the response, and keep description and interpretation in separate columns.
  3. UnderstandRead the record for level, trend and concentration — then name at least one explanation that competes with your own.
  4. ApplyChange what can be changed, starting with the environment and the demand. Give the person tools they control. Review against a baseline you actually recorded.

The PMA method

Learn → Observe → Understand → Apply, in full, with the error each stage is designed to prevent.

Read the method

How behaviour is recorded

Operational definitions, six recording methods, and how to turn raw records into numbers that genuinely compare.

Read

Environment before person

The single highest-yield habit in applied behavioural work, and why two settings are the minimum.

Read

Naming emotions precisely

Why “stressed” is a container rather than a name, and what precision buys you.

Read

The limits of facial inference

What a face can and cannot tell you — and why we publish no coding tables.

Read

Fit, not deficit

Support planning that changes the environment rather than correcting the person.

PMA Emotion Naming Sheet

Eight container words (“stressed”, “fine”, “bad”) unpacked into the precise names that tell you what would actually help, the four channels, and a two-week naming log. (5 pages, PDF)

What this platform will not do

It will not diagnose, screen, score, classify or rate any person. No page here contains a scored item, a cut-off, or an indicative profile.

It reproduces no proprietary test, item bank, coding manual, certification syllabus or third-party clinical instrument. Every framework, form and sentence published here is original PMA Science material, and it says so.
