A covered walkway or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Portico\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">portico<\/a> (a\u00a0portico\u00a0is a\u00a0porch leading to the entrance of a building) was commonly used for public use. Early stoa\/porches were open at the gate, with columns, usually of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Doric_order\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Doric order<\/a>\u00a0or temple, lining the side of the\u00a0building. This\u00a0created a safe, enveloping, protective atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since Zeno of Citium didn&#8217;t have a school or building to teach his lectures, he used a &#8220;stoa\/porch&#8221;\u00a0in\u00a0the Doric order or temple to conduct his lectures to both the public and\u00a0followers interested\u00a0in\u00a0emotional and mental\u00a0well-being, self-control, and resilience\u00a0to achieve a\u00a0good life.\u00a0Furthermore,<u>\u00a0the\u00a0<\/u><a href=\"https:\/\/bing.com\/search?q=what+is+stoicism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stoics believe that we should focus on what we can control, accept what we cannot, and practice virtues like wisdom and courage to live in harmony with nature<\/a><u>.<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thus, mental\u00a0well-being, self-control,\u00a0and resilience\u00a0to achieve a\u00a0good life, teachings, and lectures became stoicism because they were thought by the stoa\/porch.\u00a0In addition, this is how the Stoicism philosophy emerged in the 3rd century BC, with Zeno of Citium as its founder.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The Stoic code<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Stoic\u00a0Code\u00a0is a set of principles derived from Stoicism.
